Students in art club are getting ready for a new year. On Aug. 23, the art club members voted for officers. They elected seniors Diana Hatcher as president, Marissa Shelley as vice president, Mary Beth Rader as secretary, junior Lauren Cunningham as treasurer, and sophomore Shannon Lindstrom as StuCo representative.
The students are anxious for a new year in art club, Hatcher in particular.
"I look forward to having get togethers and making the Homecoming float," Hatcher said.
Every year, about 20 members join art club. Sponsor Kristin Herndon said she enjoys the fellowship of the student artists. Herndon also mentioned that the students have appreciated their involvement in the Animation Festival over the years. The festival includes watching animation movies such as "The Nightmare Before Christmas."
Herndon has planned out activities this year including the art sale, the Renaissance Festival, and a possible trip to Kansas City, Kan.
She said she has many ambitions for the art club.
"My goal for the art club this year is to help the members make connection between art and the world," Herndon said.
