Hear ye, hear ye! The Renaissance Festival is approaching. AFS sponsor Jerry Bollig is currently selling tickets for $12 for adults, $6.50 for children (under 12 years old), and food coupons for $5.50.

On Sept. 25, Bollig is sponsoring a bus that will depart from the high school at 8:30 a.m. for people who bought tickets from him to go to the festival in Bonner Springs, Kan. The bus will arrive back in Silver Lake around 4:45 p.m.

According to Bollig, sponsor of the AFS foreign student organization, festival events occurring include highland games, kilt contests, celtic dancers, Scotland yarns, artist appreciation weekend, and Shakespeare rocks. There are also thrilling rides and games, jousting, music, and food.

Junior Ashley Runkle is ready to take a trip back in time.

"I'm so excited for this year's festival because last year I got to ride an elephant," Runkle said.

Bollig said that every year about 50 people join him on the festival trip, and each year he can't wait to go again.

"I'm looking forward to my 12th consecutive year for attending the Kansas City Renaissance Festival," Bollig said.
