Junior Stephanie Bryant is headed to state cross country again this year. She achieved this goal by placing fourth with a time of 12:57 at Riley County’s cross country regionals on Oct. 23.

This time qualified her to compete at state on this Saturday, Oct. 30, at Wamego. Her race will begin at 10:30 a.m. Last year, she finished seventh at state with a time of 13:04. Bryant hopes to place in the top five this year.

Coach Kelly Lampe compared Bryant’s ability going into state last year to this year.

“She is healthier and stronger, but so is class 3A girls division…you never know,” said Lampe.

Bryant is in good health compared to last year, and her shin splints have not been hurting her.

Lampe hopes Bryant does the best she can do and experiences a satisfying day.

Bryant said that all of the competition is striving to win as badly as she.

“There are a lot of younger runners that are very talented, so it is very tough,” said Bryant.
