Fundraiser to collect money for soldier's family

A fundraiser to benefit Dorothy and Richard Marsh’s family is being held at the sub-state football game tonight in Silver Lake.

Richard Marsh is currently serving in the war in Iraq. According to Rachelle DeShazo, senior head cheerleader, the Marsh family is experiencing a shortage of money because he will not be home for the holidays. The Silver Lake High School cheerleading squad will be selling beads and pompoms for a dollar each to benefit the family.

DeShazo said the proceeds collected will be matched by local establishments.

All the finances amassed by the cheerleaders will go to the Marshes via a grocery gift card.
