Eagles unable to conquer Cardinals

The class 3A state championship football game was held last weekend at the Goddard District Stadium. The final featured two familiar teams: the Silver Lake Eagles and the Conway Spring Cardinals.

This game marked the third consecutive time that the Eagles and Cardinals have met in the championship game. However, like the two previous years, Silver Lake was not able to handle the strength of the 55-0 team, losing 28-0. The Cardinals increased their state championships to four consecutive victories and five state titles in the last eight years.

With this loss, the Eagles end the season 10-4.
