The first ever Reading Round-Up came to Silver Lake Grade School for cowboys and cowgirls in first, second, and third grade on March 11.
The event was from 6 - 8 p.m. at the grade school. According to JoAnn Wolf, elementary librarian, the cowboys and cowgirls participated in a large group activity in the gym. A quiet time followed involving students reading with their parent or guardian for the evening.
Wolf said students brought their favorite books, pillows, bunkroll, and camp chairs. She said the round-up was held for the students to spend an evening with their parents reading. The money from the library’s Scholastic Book Fair and money from the Silver Lake NEA made it possible to purchase the books for the students and for the Chuck Wagon dinner.
