The past few months, the Silver Lake Elementary School has been in a giving mood. Just recently, some of the staff members at SLGS decorated and donated a Christmas tree to the "Festival of Trees," a fundraiser for Sheltered Living in Topeka. They have been doing this for the past four years.
Also, grades first through sixth have been collecting items such as hand lotion, Chapstick, Band-Aids, and so on, in their classrooms for Rescue Mission packets. The fourth grades are putting these together and have donated these useful packets for several years. The grade school students, like every year, donate and collect canned goods. This food will be distributed by area churches and organizations before Christmas.
