The high school and junior high recently held their cheerleader and pom pon tryouts for the 2006-2007 school year. The final squads were posted March 15.

The high school football cheerleaders include current juniors Shannon Lindstrom, Jayme Lindstrom and Courtney Brokaw; sophomores Katana Creger, Megan Richards and Paulina Rudolph; freshmen Britney Workman, Kayla Lowery, Shayla Dressman and Kali Huske; and eighth-graders Shelby Brokaw and Kailey Priddy.

The high school basketball cheerleaders will be current junior Brokaw; sophomores Michelle Taylor, Richards, and Creger; freshmen Jenna Yoder, Dressman and Huske; and eighth-graders Priddy and Brokaw.

S. Lindstrom, former captain of the cheerleading squads, explained how her final year as a cheerleader excites her.

"I feel that it will be my best year of cheerleading.  I think the squad has a lot of talent, and we all click together well," S. Lindstrom explained

The high school pommers are current juniors Jessica Hawkins, Bailey Altman, Kaitlin Metzler and Bailey White; sophomores Kali Arney and Jaimie Tosh; freshmen Sarah Ables and Kerry Dick; and eighth-graders Shelby Kampsen and Sarah Tripp.  The pommers will perform at home football half times and the boys' varsity basketball half times.

Hawkins explained that next year will be less nerve-racking because she knows what to expect.

"This coming year is going to be a lot better. I feel that I have gained the experience I need to perform to my full ability," stated Hawkins.

The junior high cheerleaders will be current sixth-graders Rachel Brokaw, Emily Lambert, Quinn Barker, Jamie Pfannenstiel, Whitney White and Kaci Campbell; and current seventh-graders Jennifer Rosebaugh, Lexi Wolfley, Stephanie Carroll, Taylor Nocktonick, Julia Wilson and Miranda Stromgren.

This is the first time in three years that the entire current seventh-grade squad made the team again.

Head coach Trish Backman commented on the competition.

"This year's competition was really tough. It actually came down to the teacher evaluations. They played a huge role in the final decision," stated Backman.
