Musical results released

Students showcased their talents recently in two local competitions. Silver Lake High School vocalists competed at state large group in Osage City on April 12. The choir, consisting of both select choir and concert choir members, received a "2" rating for their performance. The band also received a "2" rating.

On Saturday, April 1, band and vocal small groups traveled to Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan. where the 2006 Regional Music Festival was held. The results are listed below.

Sandra Liggatt, band director, recognized senior Alex Oyler for his extraordinary trumpet skills.

"Alex Oyler was very impressive on his solo. He had techniques down that challenge many others. He did great," said Liggatt.

The students who received "1" ratings will participate at state music competition on April 29 at Southeast of Saline High School.
