As soon as students receive their yearbooks, they flip through the annual, looking to see what pages they are on. For the 2006-2007 yearbook, students may not even have to open the cover to see themselves.
Silver Lake High School photographers will be taking crowd pictures at the sub-state football game on Friday in Sabetha. Students and community members are encouraged to paint their faces, wear lots of outrageous maroon and gold, and most importantly, support the Eagles by cheering. The best crowd shot will appear on the color cover of the yearbook.
According to Jamie Manhart, journalism teacher, the students are working on a full-color, 144 page yearbook. The theme this year is "A picture is worth 2007 words." She explained that the numbers 2-0-0-7 will appear on the cover of the yearbook and the best color football crowd shot will be incorporated into the numbers.
Manhart said yearbook production is in full swing thanks to a dedicated editor.
"Danielle Bulson is a senior this year and is my yearbook editor. She is in my room every day, designing, creating, revising, and ensuring that everyone in the school will be represented in this book. I am truly impressed with her knowledge of inDesign and PhotoShop, as well as her dedication to adhering to all design rules. By what I have seen so far, I think this could be our best yearbook yet," Manhart said.
