StuCo reaches happy medium

King and Queen of Winter Sports events planned

January 02, 2007

Due to much controversy, Student Council members decided to hold onto a few King and Queen of Winter Sports events after initially saying they were going to drop the event entirely.

StuCo members have chosen to go through with the crowning, the dance, and a dodge ball tournament. The crowning will be held on Jan. 4 at halftime of the boys’ game against Wabaunsee. The candidates are Kali Arney, Chelsea Campbell, Jordan Lockwood, Eddie Avila, Ethan Cray, and Justin Backman.

The dodge ball tournament will be next on the calendar at noon on Jan. 5. According to Mary LaMar, StuCo sponsor, this is an idea that has been tossed around for about three years and is now being set into motion. The last day to register a team is on Jan. 3.

The King and Queen of Winter Sports dance will also be held on Saturday at 8 p.m. LaMar said StuCo members moved the dance to Saturday in order to increase attendance.
