Fundraiser organized to help family

For some, the aftermath of the Greensburg, Kan. tornado is difficult to fathom. For Silver Lake Elementary School teacher Tina Bledsoe's family, the tornado is a life-altering reality.

Bledsoe's aunt and uncle, Steve and Marjorie Thompson, live in Greensburg and lost their home. Only a few walls remain.

This is all that remains of Steve and Marjorie Thompsons' home in Greensburg. The Thompsons are Tina Bledsoe's aunt and uncle.

Bledsoe's cousin Brady Thompson, and his wife, Jayne, and their 3-year-old daughter, Emma, and 1 1/2-year-old son, Hunter, lost everything. The family is currently living in Haviland, Kan. with relatives.

According to Tonya McGough, junior high and high school vocal instructor, a fund has been established to help them in their recovery. Monetary donations should be delivered to the high school office by Friday, May 18. Checks should be made payable to Silver Lake High School. McGough said the money will be presented to the family on behalf of the Silver Lake schools as soon as possible.
