Adopt-a-Family brings out charity in many

Student Council’s decision to adopt a family this Christmas has evoked a tremendous response by both the student body and the community. The project has been met with success and an even higher expected outcome.

According to Mary LaMar, StuCo sponsor, all of the tags posted on the library window were taken and returned with the appropriate gift. Members of the community who read the article about the plan to help a family also pitched in.

Among items collected were several basic items such as blankets and canned goods. Also collected were presents that the children had put on their lists. A large amount of cash was also contributed to the effort, totaling over $165. StuCo members wrapped the gifts and plan to deliver them to the family on Dec. 21 at 3:30 p.m.

The family consists of a single father, Steven, with his three children: Bryan, 15, Kayla, 11, and Kasandra, 6.

According to LaMar, the father is grateful for the generosity StuCo and the community has shown. She also wanted to thank all of those involved for their charity in making this family’s Christmas special.
