At half time of the boys’ varsity game on Jan. 4, Eddie Avila and Kali Arney were crowned King and Queen of Winter Royalty. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams went on to win that night by an impressive margin. The girls’ won by 42 (62-20) and the boys’ left victorious with a score of 47-30.

At noon the next day, the first ever dodge ball tournament held at Silver Lake started. Nine teams signed up and paid but only seven of those teams showed up to be a part of the entertaining tournament, which took place in the new gym of the high school.

The Shockers, consisting of Dustin Gauntt, Willie Smith, Peter Ruby, Josh Rosebaugh, Gabe Battis, and Devin Smith, won the tournament at around 2 p.m. They won the tournament’s bracket and a trophy of a goose throwing a dodge ball around.

Mary LaMar, StuCo sponsor, said that the event was very successful for its first year and said it looked as though everyone playing and watching was having a good time.

The dance started at 8 p.m. in the commons. StuCo hired Gary McDaniel as the DJ. McDaniel used the help of Jay McDaniel, his son and Silver Lake student. The dance ended around 11 p.m. but not before the candidates got in their slow dance.
