Junior high students share time

For the past couple of months, junior high students have been spending their Tuesday reward time during seminar with younger elementary school students.
Each week a group of about 10 students has been reading with kindergartners through second graders and fourth graders. Many students saw this as a neat way to interact with the younger grades.
According to Deidre Michael, kindergarten teacher, “Young children crave attention, especially from ‘big kids.’ Anytime someone will sit with them they feel important and it gives them a chance to show what they are learning to do with their reading skills.”
Both the younger and the older students have enjoyed this experience and hope it continues.
