The community of Silver Lake will have a chance to check out all the renovations that have been going on in the grade school. The open house, book fair, and dedication will all take place on Monday, Oct. 13.
At 6:30 p.m., the night will start off with the dedication, which will be held in the old grade school gym. According to Dr. Randy Freeman, superintendent, the dedication is the school's chance to thank the community for the chance to improve and expand the schools. Following the dedication will be the open house where everyone is welcome to check out the 10 new classrooms and the new office.
In conjunction with the open house will be the book fair, which will last until 8 p.m. According to the district newsletter, along with buying books at the fair, participants can also purchase a "gift card" in the amount of their choosing. The gift cards are given to the respective child's teacher and can be used to shop for their classroom. Scholastic has a promotion called “One for Books” where they will match every dollar people give to the school. The book fair will be held in the grade school lunchroom.
As always, all proceeds from the book fair will be used to purchase new books for the school library, classrooms and the students.
