National Honor Society inducts new members

December 08, 2008

The Silver Lake Honor Club chapter of the National Honor Society at Silver Lake High School inducted 17 new members in a ceremony on Nov. 12.

This year's inductees were seniors Michael Hamilton, Trent Strunk and Kelsey Wichman. The junior inductees included Brady Abrahams, Jerod Barker, Shelby Brokaw, Wesley Burkiek, Rachel Cross, Emilee Herrington, Derek Holmer, Amanda Lewis, Jestina Matulka, Randi Richards, Peter Ruby, Randy Rudolph, Lindsey Schroeder, and Blake Schultejans.

The four attributes for membership are character, scholarship, leadership, and service. Minimum scholarship qualifications at SLHS are determined by cumulative grade point average which is 3.50 for juniors and 3.40 for seniors. The faculty then voted on the candidate, weighing each student's merit in the four areas. Freshmen and sophomores are not eligible.
