Lindstrom named Athletic-Director-of-the-Year

By Alex Hawkins

April 01, 2009

Jim Lindstrom, junior high/ high school athletic director and assistant principal, is ending his career in impressive fashion. Lindstrom, completing his 34th year in the district and his final year as Silver Lake's AD, was recently selected as the Congressional District 2 Athletic-Director-of-the-Year.

There are four districts from which the Kansas Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association's past presidents choose an athletic director to represent their district.

Lindstrom said he was thrilled when he discovered that he'd been chosen.

He said, "I was very excited to hear about being selected as the district 2 Athletic-Director-of-the-Year."

Lindstrom received a similar honor once before. Lindstrom said he was named KIAAA Middle School Athletic-Director-of-the-Year in 1999.

Although Lindstrom is close to retirement, it played no role in how flattered he was to receive the award.

"It's really an honor to receive the award anytime in my career, whether it was early or late," Lindstrom stated. "I'm just very appreciative."

Lindstrom attended the 2009 KIAAA Conference on March 28 in Hutchinson, where he received his award.
