Band and vocal students recently participated in state music.
Sandi Liggatt, band instructor, said there were 19 students participating in the band state solos and ensembles.
The percussion ensemble received a "1" rating. Musicians included seniors JaVon Martin and Kayleen Kelley; freshmen Tyler Corber, Josh Pladies, Jacob Schroeder, and Ashley Williams; sophomore Greg Davis; and juniors Peter Ruby, Sarah Tripp, and Weston Nelson.
"I think the students did an excellent job at state competition," said Liggatt.
She said the clarinet quartet did very well also. They received a "1," and this team consisted of freshmen Kelsey Darling, Rachel Brokaw, Abbey Killinger, and Annie Landis.
"They all worked very hard, and they come in before and after school. They put their best effort in class and practice and represent their school very well," Liggatt said.
Three soloists received "1" ratings including Peter Ruby, trombone solo; Riley Oblander, trumpet solo; and Jaeton Martin, bari sax solo.
Thirty vocal students participated in the Small Group State Festival at South East of Saline on Saturday.
Select choir received a "1" rating and soloists Derek Holmer, Peter Ruby, Rachel Cross and Kayleen Kelley received "1"s. The women's ensemble got a "2" rating, and men's ensemble got a "3" rating.
